Extra Credit papers must be turned in by the Monday of the final week in a 6 week marking period, in order for me to have time to grade them. Make sure you follow the criteria. Two finished papers will make up for the zero on the sketchbook or any daily grade.
Each paper makes up one daily grade or 10 pts. towards a project grade.
Two Papers max each 6 weeks.
Paper Requirements:
3 page paper on ANY artist we have not yet studied
12 pt font Times New Roman
1.5 Spacing
1 in Margins
Name and Date in the header space (inside 1 in Margin)
Page 1-2: Biography of the artist. Life, work style, why they were important to the art world, etc. Do not pull all of your info from one source!! Use at least 3 sources and site sources on the last page in the Footer
Page 3: Pick 2-3 works of art and paste a photo of each on the page (no larger than 1 inch photos) Format the photo so that the text fills around it (square formatting) and analyze the work and how it uses the elements of art (line, color, value, etc) using strong art vocabulary. Fill the page!
Any plagiarism will void the extra credit and future extra credit will not be accepted!! Make sure you are writing in your own voice! Start with a bio of the artist and what type/style of art they made, and then feel free to discuss why their work appeals to you (or does NOT appeal to you) and analyze individual works on their meanings and use of elements of art.
If you need artist suggestions, please let me know.
